I am a psychodynamically trained counsellor running my own private practice having previously worked for both the NHS and Place2Be charity. I work with adults and young people.
Psychodynamic counselling helps us understand our deep rooted feelings and struggles, bringing the unconscious mind into the conscious in order to resolve issues. When our mind struggles to process feelings, memories and experiences we use defences to protect ourselves. By exploring and understanding these defences it can help us make changes and process unresolved problems.
Working together we can develop a greater understanding of your thoughts and feelings and explore how you can move forward to begin to enjoy life again. Life can provide challenges, making us feel overwhelmed and struggling to cope. However, by exploring how we function and facing our fears, we can develop a greater understanding of our inner thoughts and how they affect our ability to face and overcome challenges. Whatever is troubling you, depression, anxiety, domestic abuse, OCD, bereavement, trauma, suicidal thoughts, contact me and we can discuss how I can help.
Your counselling sessions provide space for you to talk, honestly and openly, without fear of judgement. We will develop a trusting relationship enabling you to explore your curiosity around your life and behaviour in order to develop greater understanding and self knowledge. Exploring our unconscious feelings can enable us to lessen their impact and limitations.
I hold BACP Accrediation (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). This provides a quality standard, meaning I have achieved a required standard of training and am able to demonstrate high standards of knowledge, experience and development within my counselling practice. I work under the BACP ethical framework demonstrating, trustworthiness, respect and honesty. Ethical considerations underpin the work I do, maintaining confidentiality and good practic
